Travelling with a child is a completely different proposition from travelling light on your own. “Was this place really all right with a baby?” “Which seat on the shinkansen means not having to worry about the people around you?” — you search, and you struggle to find an article that actually answers it. That frustration is what started this blog.
About Kozure Tabi
Kozure Tabi is a blog about travelling with children (and with a dog), and the baby and toddler gear we have actually used. Our tagline, “More freedom, even with kids”, carries the wish that nobody should give up on going out because they have a child.
There are three broad themes.
- Hotel reviews — honest write-ups of places we have actually stayed, covering what was good and what fell short
- Baby and toddler gear — how to choose, and how it felt to use: high chairs, nappies, weaning equipment and the rest of daily life with a child
- Getting around — choosing shinkansen seats, packing lists, and other ways to make travelling with children a little easier
Properties we have covered so far include Kasuien Minami (Tamatsukuri Onsen), The Lake View TOYA Nonokaze Resort (Lake Toya), Le Chien Kyu-Karuizawa, Rakuten STAY VILLA Kinugawa Riverside, Kinugawa Onsen Asaya and Doggy’s Island.

How these articles are written
These are the things this blog holds to.
- We do not write about places we have not been to, or products we have not used, as though we had experienced them. Within each article we distinguish between what we actually stayed at or used, and what is drawn from official information or general knowledge
- We write about the downsides too. A review that lists only the good points is no use to the person reading it
- We do not make definitive claims about health or safety. On medical topics such as weaning and allergies, we refer to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and other specialist bodies, and we recommend seeing a paediatrician whenever a judgement is unclear
- Prices and facilities change. Before you travel or buy, please always check the latest information on the official website of the property or manufacturer
